OfficialWire Confirms Return as Part of the WireNews Media Platform

OfficialWire, one of the earliest online media distribution platforms created during the formative years of the commercial Internet, has confirmed its return as an integrated part of the WireNews media network more than two decades after its original founding.
OfficialWire was founded by Bill White on 21 April 2001 in London, England, at a time when online publishing and Internet-based media distribution were still in their infancy.
The platform became one of the first online tools to enable companies and organisations to publish and distribute their own press releases electronically to a growing database of journalists and media contacts around the world.
Over the years, the media platform evolved and expanded through the development of WireNews, which today maintains a database of more than 350,000 registered journalists. Media content published through WireNews via OfficialWire is distributed directly to journalists and media professionals internationally.
In addition to media distribution services, WireNews also provides internationally recognised press credentials and press cards for journalists, writers, commentators, photographers, bloggers, and media professionals. Annual credentials are available for less than £100 per year, with additional five-year and lifetime options also available.
Bill White said the reintroduction of OfficialWire is not the creation of a new brand, but the continuation and reunification of an established media identity that dates back to the earliest days of online journalism and Internet publishing.
“OfficialWire was created at a time when the Internet was still transforming how information moved around the world. The objective was simple: to allow organisations to communicate directly with journalists quickly and efficiently through online technology. What exists today through WireNews is the continuation of that original vision, expanded over more than twenty-five years of development and publishing,” said White.
Under the planned structure, WireNews Limited intends to continue developing a unified media platform incorporating both WireNews and OfficialWire as complementary brands within the same ecosystem.
Breaking news, opinion, commentary, and editorial journalism will continue under the WireNews identity, while corporate news, media announcements, sponsored content, and paid promotional distribution will increasingly operate through the OfficialWire brand.
The company confirmed that WireNews and OfficialWire will not operate as separate websites, but as an integrated publishing and distribution environment bringing together more than twenty-five years of established media history, journalism, commentary, press distribution, and online publishing infrastructure.
White added that the long-term objective is to preserve the heritage of both brands while strengthening their combined position within modern digital media.
“WireNews and OfficialWire are not competitors or replacements for one another. They are part of the same historical media development that began in 2001 and continues today. This is not a launch. It is a restoration and continuation of something established,” he said.
